Fourteenth of the fifth, Oh Five - 7 years today ~ {An Anniversary}

Carrie and I were married seven years ago today, so we've been reminiscing and thinking back over how much has happened in the time since. It turns out that it's been a relentless hit of significant events of the kind that I can't remember being used to before we were married.

A return to film

I've been shooting film for years, and was fortunate to be one of the last generation to learn the process of photography in darkrooms and in a very hands-on way. Digital photography became a great enabler for bazillions of photographers and along with the internet has become an integral part in all of our every day lives.

Bouncing back with baby boy behind.

It's been a busy few months for me. Seriously. Apart from the usual shooting pattern you'd imagine at this time of the year, my wife and I have been full on with bringing our new baby, Edwen, into the world. In the run up to his birth we were on red alert for 5 or 6 weeks as we were being told that his arrival was 'imminent' or 'any day now'. As it turns out he was two weeks overdue, or late, as I like to think of it. And he was born a good weight (10.5lb) and very healthy and calm. We're all very happy in my house!

I took a day off!

I can't remember the last time we had such a nice Easter weekend. And especially one when I wasn't working. I prised myself away from my office and grabbed some time with my family as we headed up to Box Hill in Surrey. Of course, I took my camera up with me! I figured that being a wedding photographer in Surrey often means that I'm always working, always photographing people and always looking for the right light. And I'm always checking out locations for my family portrait sessions, which are often done in the great outdoors.
